Broadwas CE Primary School offers an engaging curriculum which gives our children the opportunity to learn about the world around them.
The Primary National Curriculum gives an overview of the curriculum that is offered to all Primary School age children and "Early Years - Development Matters" highlights the needs of children in Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception class).
The following documents give more information about our curriculum provision.
Our Curriculum Intent Statement can be accessed by clicking here.
Please note that with mixed year-group classes we organise curriculum content into a two year rolling programme so that duplication of topics is avoided. Each class has a Year A and Year B curriculum overview.
Curriculum letters outlining current learning in each class can be viewed under the 'Pupils' tab.

We read books from a variety of schemes integrated with a core Oxford Reading Tree Scheme. We are keen to get children reading real books as soon as they are reading confidently, with fluency and expression. This may happen in KS1 or KS2.
We use the Read Write Inc. resources to teach phonics in a systematic way. Children undertake the phonics screening test at the end of Year 1. Children who do not meet the standard, retake at the end of Year 2.
