League Match 1 (04/11/13)

Clifton (0) v Broadwas (6)

The Six Goal Thriller

On Monday the 4th of November the Broadwas football team played their first league game against Clifton. Little did they know they would come away with a 6 goal win?

As the game started Broadwas looked a bit shaky until captain Harvey belted one in from 8 yards out to settle any nerves. More goals came in the first half, one for Isaac and another for Harvey. A great goal by striker Adam led Broadwas into the break with a four goal advantage.

Harvey scored another early goal to earn him his hat trick. Just before Harvey and Isaac gave way for Henry and Adam, Alex bagged the 6th goal. Morgan and Alice played great games as they switched positions at right back.

In the final minute Clifton had a break they forced keeper (Max) to make a great save, before defender Sam cleared it of the line.

After the final whistle blew, Broadwas went home happy after a fascinating game that ended 6-0.

By Harvey, Max and Isaac.

League Match 2

Broadwas (2) v Our Lady Queen of Peace (1) (28/11/13)

Broadwas Win ESFA U11 Competition - Click here to watch a video of the team being awarded their trophy

The Y5/6 team competed in the English Schools' Football Association (ESFA) tournament at Dyson Perrins High School on Monday 25/11/13. There were 11 other local schools involved and our team played fantastically through the group stages, winning all their matches to secure their place in the final. It was a tough game against local rivals Martley and the teams remained level for most of the game before Broadwas finally netted a goal in the last few minutes of the game! The team will now progress to the next stage of the competition. Congratulations to the team.

Broadwas Reach Regional ESFA Finals

Congratulations to our Year 5/6 football team who won the Worcestershire Schools Football Association (WSFA) finals at Trinity High School in Redditch. The squad even caught the attention of many of the spectators who commented on how well the team played together and how well they passed the ball. The team will now play at the Regional Finals in Nottingham on Saturday 15th March, the penultimate stage before the National Championships. Well done Broadwas - an amazing achievement!

Broadwas Win Martley Cluster Football Tournament

The Y5/6 football team added another tournament win to their tally at the Martley Cluster Primary Schools Competition held at the Chantry on 12/03/14. The team got off to a tremendous start and topped their group with three wins and one draw before meeting Martley in the semi-final. The match was very closely contested but the Broadwas passing game was rewarded with the team netting twice before the final whistle. Nine local primary school teams had been narrowed to just two. Broadwas were up against Broadheath in the final. The game was nail biting with both teams coming close to scoring on several occasions before a thunderous shot from Harvey was parried by the keeper into the path of Morgan who smashed the ball into the back of the net! Final score, 1-0. Broadwas were the champions.

The Y3/4 team made an equally stunning start to the tournament, topping their group in the preliminary stage of the competition. The newly formed squad, who had not played together as a team before, battled hard to bag three wins and a draw, securing their place in the semi-final. The team was extremely unlucky to get knocked out at this stage by a penalty decision against them. The penalty was converted and this final kick of the game knocked our valiant team out of the competition.

Congratulations to both teams and a tremendous thank you to all the parents who came along to support. Thanks also to Miss Goble who assisted Mr Allen with managing the teams at the event. It was a fabulous occasion with an exciting atmosphere that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
